At Fort Drum, if you are Single E-6 or higher you are aloud BAH.. I was just wondering what its like at other posts. I have heard that most posts offer BAH For Single E-5's and above. Is this true??

How are you an E-5 and not know the BAH rules?

As long as you (single soldier) have permission from your command to live off post you will collect single rate BAH for the area you live in. In hawaii an e-4 living off post collects about 1500.00/month BAH. married gets about 1800.00

BAH rules are dif on Drum.. Division command states that E-6 and above can only apply for BAH while at Ft Drum.

That's sounds flakey. Any soldier (single or married) that is authorized to live off-post can get BAH. I don't think division can stop that unless they do not allow any single soldier below E-6 to live off-post.

BAH is a DOD thing, not a division thing.

I win.... taken from this website.

    http://www.dod.mil/militarypay/pay/bah/02_types.html

BAH With Dependents and BAH Without Dependents

A member with permanent duty within the 50 United States, who is not furnished government housing, is eligible for Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH), based on the member's dependency status at the permanent duty ZIP Code. A member stationed overseas, including U.S. protectorates, who is not furnished government housing, is eligible for Overseas Housing Allowance (OHA) based on the member's dependency status. If a member is serving an UNACCOMPANIED overseas tour, the member is eligible for BAH at the "with dependents" rate, based on the dependent's US residence ZIP Code, plus OHA at the "without dependents" rate, if the member is not furnished government housing overseas.
