In the worst date thread, there were a few shots about single moms and how much drama they bring. Since I didn't want to derail the worst date thread, I figured I'd start a new one.

I want to know what makes a single mom a bad choice for a date :mamoru:

Dates being cancelled for no sitter

She talks about her kid at in oportune times

No spending the night because of the kid (sometimes... depends)

    Kid always comes first (understandably)

Kid gets attached to you even if you try and distance yourself.

I'll proabably think of more later after I think about it for a bit.

And all of that is understandable (from the mom side and the don't-want-to-date-a-mom side.)

Some of the crap in the other thread was that single moms are looking for a daddy for their baby, want someone to pay their way, always full of drama (if cancelling a date because the sitter fell through is drama, I'd like to live in lala land too!)

Watching a movie all cuddly, kid starts crying, gets up, etc (LOVE that one....)

2 birthdays to worry about instead of one

2 people to keep happy instead of one (if the kid doesn't like you, neither will the mom)

    My personal favorite....

You're not breaking up with one person, you're breaking up with two... and more often than not it sucks more to have to leave the kid.

This is honestly the only reason why I wouldn't date a single mom right now. I want to be #1 in someone's life and that's more or less impossible with a mother. Maybe when I'm older and less selfish it would work, but right now it's a deal breaker.

It still isn't your own and the baby's daddy is getting in the way, and the child knows he/she isn't their real father, so you get no respect.

Basically, it turns into you paying child support for a kid that isn't yours, for some dead beat who nailed and bailed, and you get to care/pay for it :mamoru:

If I'm caring for a child, I would at least want it to be my own. I guess I'm a little different.

Where did I say "all"...the only thing I said was "basically"...putting words in my mouth and making wild assumptions...typical

Give me a 22 year old girl with no kid, over the 22 year old burned out, drama filled, baggage carrying girl with a kid.

ive never dated one but seems like reign nailed some reasons.

i dont think id mind dating a single mom. however, i think eventually she would get tired of:

    hey lets go out!

    cant no sitter.

oh, well.... im still going out to chill w. my friends.

My ex pays for his kids (I actually took LESS child support than what the state guidelines said I'd get.) He also gets the kids every other week for a week at a time. It works well for us.
