I can't answer for IntheWorks but I use either white or grey seamless because you can add color via gels over your lights.

For background supports to keep at home I just ordered this:

    http://www.adorama.com/BG314B.html

I'll let you guys know how it works after it arrives.

it's a studio grey seamless from savage. I went with grey due to the nice warm saturated colors it gives you when gelling a background light compared to white. I do have a 9ft wide white seamless also that I haven't used yet. The BG system I'm using is some old thing I got from the used bargain bin @ MPEX some months back. It's not lightweight, pretty, or new, but it gets teh job done.

equipment is just a small portion of it... gotta know how to use it more than anything ;) And yeah.. having a cute model helps. Tits work really sucks, but his cute kids make up for it. :mamoru:

I can't remember what the darker grey is called.... 53" is ok for headshots, but for full body/more than 1 person stuff, I'd go for the 107. You can do full body shots with the 53" but it's really not wide enough IMO

Personally I don't think 53" is wide enough for anything other than head and shoulder shots or small product work. I like a medium grey color because I can turn it nearly white by overexposing it or black by underexposing it.

edu on how you did your lighting? Pics of setup? Portrait stuff is new to me. Just curious how the gelling is done and where the lights are aimed.

most of these shots had 1 dlite 400ws with a med soft box at camera right, then another small softbox camera left... varying from 45-90 degrees. I have a diagram for a shot I gelled the BG... I'll post it up in a minute.

lots of distractions... and sitting him back down... ever since he started crawling, getting him to sit for any length of time is a lot harder.

unfortunately no... the room I'm working in is very small, and I don't have the room to take a pic of the set up. Our new home should be finished in a few months, and my new shooting space has a lot more room. (then in the next year or two we're building a 20x40 studio:cool:)

Nice so the last pic with the diagram, the bottom parts of the BG seem brown, but thats just the gray BG itself?

yeah, it's not all green because the 430ex was snooted (loose snoot so I got a bigger beam) here's one pulled back a little further.
