Last track day with the old motor...

Does it still count as a motor swap if you just replaced one S50 with another one? :hsugh:

It does look nice, but what's special about it?

And why isn't there an air filter on it? MAFs don't work right once they get dirty, and even if you can clean it after every race, why not filter the air and avoid needing to clean it that often? A cone filter won't restrict airflow very much, if at all; it's not forced-induction or anything.

Oh. I didn't see tools and wires and shit all over the place, so I thought the swap was already done.

Not much more than doing cams "right" (cams, headers, etc)... and the motor was MADE for 320hp.

it's a blast... only like 280-290 hp/tq tho, I need to get this chip installed... summer project, after tax season.

still not 321hp tho... but the V8 is awesome everywhere, and it sounds awesome with the magnaflow setup I put on it.

just out of curiosity, what was the condition of the old motor? Or did you just decide to swap it cuz you got a good deal?

Old motor was top-notch. New head work, MLS gasket with ARP studs, double wound springs, new retainers, tight bottom end, oil pan baffle, etc. Woulda thrown it in my car, but I didn't want to drop that kind of $$ on it, I'll just do a head gasket when mine blows (they all do )

Just needed mo' powah, and to do cams properly was about as much money as doing the motor swap when all's said and done... but like I said, the S50B32 is MADE to do 321hp reliably all day, plus it's

Well, by the time you get cams, proper tuning, new exhaust manifolds to move that much air, euro 3.5" maf, etc etc...

it's just about the same price to buy a euro setup, and sell your stock us motor. came out to within $1k difference or so IIRC, so why bother fucking around with trying to get cams tuned just right, pushing your US motor's limits, etc

Offhand I dunno, it was more her project... I think total expenditure was somewhere in the 4-5k range?
