so since panzer doesnt want to wait until monday when i can take nicer pics, i guess i'll tell the story now.
early December i decide to finally order my AR15 upper. JPC was posting on OT a bit before that about how he was getting good rates for a CMMG upper. i did the maths and it came out to be about $70 cheaper through him when everything was said and done
I proceed to put in the order on December 12th and begin my advertised CMMG "7-14 business days wait". Two weeks roll by with nothing so i PM JPC and he says that they're running a little behind since its the holiday season - no big deal, its probably expected.
Well, more and more time kept going by and i was wondering what the hell was going on he was calling CMMG at least every week to see what the status was and PMing me the results.
This last Monday - January 14th (5 weeks after i placed my order), i find out from CMMG that there was an apparent back order for 14.5" barrels why it A) took so long to get them and assemble the upper and B) why they never said anything is still beyond me.
during my wait i was lurking over at ARFCOM and found out that im not alone. there were a bunch of people who ordered in early December, and some even in November that were still without their orders! Some had canceled and gone with other companies but i was patient and stuck with it.
JPC said he was thankful that i wasnt screaming at him over the phone, or canceling my order like many others had done. he was so thankful that about a week ago offered to give me any item from his store (www.shootforless.com) AT DEALER COST! he offered this to say sorry for CMMGs lack of caring
He also told CMMG to shape up their fucking act, rush my order, and even paid for overnight delivery on top of all this, hes even sending me a care package for being a good customer at this point, my hat could not be off farther to JPC and Shoot For Less. they handled the situation perfectly, and made up for the long wait from CMMG.
the item I choose to get at cost: an Trijicon TA33R-8. he quoted it at about $670 which is 20% cheaper than anywhere else i've found it online
cliffs: CMMG sucks balls over the holidays, JPC not only paid for overnight shipping, told them to rush my order, but gave me an item at cost, and is sending me a care package! all when it wasnt even his, or Shoot For Less' fault. do business with him.

the bullet button is money tho. I had a original mag lock and replaced it with the bullet button and it's so much better

Hey dude I'm happy you got it! Do you know what pisses me off? I had to hear from you, not CMMG, that there is a back order for the barrels! They just told me that they are behind on orders but nothing about not even having the freaking barrels! Again sorry it took so long but I spent the last 2 weeks on CMMG's ass making sure you got your upper before this weekend. Our big order that we made in November has not shipped yet! But thank you for not being one of the customers yelling my ear off.
oh i think i heard from John (?) or someone at your work that the barrels or whatever were on backorder.
CMMG seems to make good stuff but it also seems like they could use an online inventory system, or order status with updates, or proactive contacting of their customers..... On my last order with them I emailed them before I ordered to ask a question. They answered my question in like minutes. I placed my order and emailed back to ask if my barrel was in stock and would be build on schedule or if it was backordered. Of course I heard nothing until I found a box on my doorstep. I also don't like that they charge your cc immediately. If someone can come along and make the same quality stuff with the better customer care, they'll eat their lunch.
yeah, they need MUCH better customer service from my experience. the weird thing is, i've read nothing but good things about their customer service and thats why i went with them
fwiw, I haven't ever had any problems with CMMG responding to emails/getting stuff out on time

I love my CMMG 20" upper. Now if I could only save up enough money to buy a 14.7" from Jimmy.
my next AR will be a 20". i just wish LMT made one
