First, I must say that I've been an avid fan of guns ever since I saw the Gulf War live as a little kid. I always figured I'd be Military of some sort when I got older. Even stayed true to that thought when I was going in to college, and most recently, as I was leaving college. I originally had hoped to do ROTC while in college but that didn't pan out. EArlier this summer I attemtped to enlist with the coast guard, but they didn't want me since I was ADD/ADHD and still on medication for it.

I'm currently a recent grad (BS in Business Admin) and have bought my frist hand gun (which if you think I'm a troll, that means you've seen my threads, and likely know about my gun). I'm happy about this because I feel that I am a mature person (I'm 23, just graduated college) and I feel that owning a gun is a responsibility. It's also a right that I want to exercise the hell out of.

I've never shot much as a kid since anyone who ever shot guns was hunting down here, and I always found hutning to be a boring past time. My frist real exposure (aside from just staring at my dad's rifles and looking at how pretty they were) to guns was at a summer camp I went to where you could sign up for shooting and shoot some .22s with iron sights. I was rather hooked. I enjoyed it a lot and was happy I got to do that for 3 summers in a row.

I must say that I've always respected guns since I know what they're capable of. I also knew that if I ever wanted to get to hold them and work their bolt actions when I was younger, I had to show to people that I was respectful and cautious.

As for why I've bought a gun recently, there have been a slough of reasons. First and foremost is self defense. While I don't CC or Open Carry (legal in Louisiana), I feel that I should be capable of defending myself, my home, and my property. This becamse a HUGE issue after Gustav and Ike. It was then that I bought a gun cleaning kit and went to work on cleaning all the rifles we owned. This lead me to start going to the range, reading more about the guns I have, and doing my best to keep in working shape.

I plan to mainly use my pistol as a range gun. I'll likely bring it with me on overnight hikes since I would feel somewhat safer if I did. The only other time I'd see myself using my pistol currently is if there were a home invasion going on at my house and I were here.

I post a lot on this forum because I am rather new to guns. Other than a basic understandnig and basic knowledge, I really don't know a whole lot beyond that. That's why I've been posting a lot. If you feel that the humor/joking that I do in my threads detracts from the serious of firearms, just say something :o. That's just part of my personality I suppose as I am always looking for the humor in a situation.

I'm very thankful for the responses I've had thus far since everyone has been helpful, and the flaming hasn't been too bad (that'll change with this thread I'm sure :mamoru:).

Hopefully this thread will do well in making you gun crew guys not see me as a troll and maybe one day as a peer :wavey:

And, since everyone's seen my pistol, here are my rifles (NEEDS MORE ASSAULT RIFLE):

Yeah bro, I'm looking for a date since I want to squeeze someone's Koch :hay:

But seriously, a few people here thought my threads were kinda trollish :greddy: so I figured I'd at least introduce myself and what little I know about guns so people here may undestand where I'm coming from with my posts :o

I found it funny that the acronym is BS. It'll be fun to ask people "oh, are you a member of BS?" or "Do you read BS often?" or "oh, you'd like BS, you should check it out sometime."

that'll provoke some great responses

yeap! I've never shot it, and I have no reason for that since I wanted to shoot it so many years ago. I should probably pick up a box of .22lr the next time I'm on an ammo run so I can do some plinking with it.
