So I've heard some sources say complex carbs are better, others say simple, others suggest a mixture of 50/50. What do you guys think?

the whole preworkout thing is based on a study that was performed in fasted conditions...if you eat a meal 2-3 hrs before working out, a preworkout shake isn't going to make much difference
