I need to fix my magazine. I was wondering if I should spend money on a mag lock (prince50 or SemiAutoSam) or save my money and wait to see if the new regulations will take place. If they do, I will probably drill a rivet through the magazine well. When do you think they will tell us about the regulations?

I would wait, in fact I'm still thinking about picking up an AR receiver. You may also want to look into the home depot fix instead if you decide to go ahead and add evil features and fix the mag since from what I've heard it requires you to disassemble the action to reverse which follows the new proposed regulations. Hopefully someone else here can tell you more about it or you can try and find info on it at calguns.

just don't use a pistol grip (or other evil features) on your OLL and you can still use detachable mags. i don't like breaking the rifle open to load.

Detachable mags make a rifle more dangerous, they should not be used in any case. Only by the police and military.. the only people who can really protect us :noes:

If someone would make a one piece stock that had a pistol grip like thing molded into it, would it be legal?
Im sure it would look ghetto as hell, but may be legal otherwise

nope, since it would still have a pistol grip.

to the first poster, go to www.calguns.net, and you should know that a member there had his rifle taken (it had a P50 mag lock), but charges were dropped because it was not an illegal rifle. So in Santa Clara county, you are safe with that lock.

What...did he get his rifle back? I go to college in San Diego, but my permanent home is in Santa Clara. You think I would be safe with the Prince50 lock?

thumbhole stocks are considered pistol grip stocks.

wrong, thumbhole stocks are considered thumbhole stocks.

reman, that is illegal in Cali if it is on a semi auto rifle with a detachable magazine.

ooorah, charges have been dropped, and he can pickup his rifle. AFAIK, he has not done so yet. Personally I think you would be safe with a P50 lock, but the uncertanty is what is making me hold off on my AR builds.
