Nothing like jumping in and just "doing it".
how did this all come about?
? details for those wishing to 'get there'
1) have 30 years experience with photography, cameras, lighting, video
seems like there lacks a key ingredient
i see lots of wedding photogs that do it with less experience, and some do it with none
key ingredients are mad skillz with equipment and some degree of talent. I'm lucky to have a little of both.
30 years experience? .... jesus.
Actually more like 40 years but who's counting? The thing is though I have little to none experience with weddings. Also, most of my experience is shooting video, not stills. Except for a few shots here and there, until just a few months ago, I hadn't shot stills for a living since the early 70's.
I've been on a learning curve just like many of you for the last couple of months.
With close to 40 years experience I figure you'll be able to mount the curve far faster than any of us first timers will be able to.
I was gonna put 40 years, but wasn't sure so didn't want you to think I was calling you old
True, but I'd forgotten a lot of stuff. However, shutter speeds, F/stops, DOF, ISO, all that shit is ingrained in my brain so I had no problem with the technical side. Teaching myself flash photography has been the biggest challenge but the most fun.
But I'm not old....I'm like a fine 1Dmk1 that simply needs a new shutter from time to time.
My friend and I just signed another one for November. Can't wait.
Link to current work? .... I'm curious.
gratz jcolman, that's awesome
i cant find shit on craigslist
im doing it wrong
do you have a family web site that you could search?
Search based on last name. You might get lucky and find some long lost family members you can make some money off of.
Will you be doing this solo?
what the fuck? a family website?
dude your jokes are getting stale
I have a really uncommon last name
Is there going to be a coordinator the whole time?
Make sure you get your hands on the schedule of the day before the wedding so you know whats gonna take place. Its should be a piece of cake.
Just please don't try anything crazy, your not taking pictures of a supercar, its just a wedding. And I suggest you to put up your big lights at the hall and don't forget to take your umbrella to take some family shots
just dont miss the bouquet or garter toss
Yes. The price is too low to pay an assistant. However, my future weddings will include an assistant. I simply need some images that I can put on my website.
