do any really provide a worthwhile benefit if you're in a crappy service area?

Those sticker signal boosters are the biggest scam, they will not help your reception any.

Got one free with a leather case on Ebay... I tried it and it made no difference in signal

I watched as this girl put one of these signal booster signal things, she put it right under the battery on some exposed metal and her phone never came back on again. :mamoru:

I had better luck with a piece of folded aluminum foil under the battery instead of the booster

I love it when people stick it to the plastic on the phone or battery

No, they don't work. Save yourself the time and money and embarassment next time you go into a cell phone store :o

They work on older gsm phones and tdma phones. The concept is good but for the most part its a dud. :)
