A&P sigma 10-20 or tokina 12-24?

    ive read plenty of reviews but want to ask here anyway as i cant make up my mind. anyone have success or failure stories? hows the image quality. itd be for canon (currently 300d, but likely a 40d soon enough). i really want to get into some wide angle stuff and am gonna ask for one for christmas:x: that or other photogear (external flash and camera backpack).

  3. I've played with both, and found the Sigma 10-20mm to be sharper, and a great price I own one myself :)

    I'm going with the tokina just because from what ive been reading online.

    Supposedly the sigma had a bad batch and some are soft on the left side. So test the lens before you buy it. My firend tested 4 and all were very soft. He went with the tokina.

    i just bought a tokina and it's fun. i'll use my mates sigma when he comes from london, if you can wait til feb :hs:

    I was going to get the tokina, but that 2mm made a big difference for me. i'm very happy with the sigma 10-20

    the extra 2mm on the sigma is probably nice but the Tokina has served me very well in the 2 years i've had it.

    ya thats why am actually leaning towards the sigma right now. i think the extra 2mm would really help and if i get a soft copy i just send it back to sigma under warranty right?

    Oh definitely. Im not even trying to say those are straight from the camera but it shows you what the lenses can do and not just 100% crops of focus charts a cereal boxes. And FWIW you cant PP the FOV and perspective. Thats what I was trying to get at.

    i've heard that the tokina 12-24 is the only glass tokina makes that is worth buying.
