    So I went out to a friend's propert and sighted in the Savage...wow this thing is amazing! We were shooting a target at around 90 yards that was in front of his dam. At first I couldn't see where I was hitting so I just shot the mud around it, lol. Boom...crater to the left, needs to go to the right a little. It worked great! I would have some pictures of groups but I ran out of ammo about 10 rounds after we got it perfect.

    This thing is so accurate it's scary. A headshot on a squirrel from 100yds would be no problem whatsoever at 8x. I can't wait to go back out tomorrow...

    Anyone else .17 crew?

    Got some target pics...still need to work on it. These are at 100 yds...

    Looks good. I'm not .17 crew though. :hs: I've been interested in them lately. My 10/22 doesn't see that much action anymore and I'd like to try something new.

    About what does store bought ammo run?

    $10-11 For CCI and $12-13 for Hornady.

    Someone on the .17hmr forum;

    Apparently as long as you can pull of a clean shot it's not hard. A headshot will drop it instantly.

    .17 for coyote is like using a .223 for deer. Unless you get a good headshot you are more likely to just maim it which I consider cruel. .17 is great for prairie dogs/gophers though.

    I just can't see the reason for one right now since .17 ammo is almost the same price as typical .223

    agreed I got a little old 22LR bolt action savage at walmart for 105 (no accutrigger or anything) and even with iron sights it is dead on. I was lining up shots thinking oh there is no way I will hit that and then I did.
