    Well hello everyone.

I'm going to go shopping this month, and I dress like a retard. I'm hoping to skim this forum for some tips on how to buy clothes that go well together and are versatile with other items I already own.

    Priority list at the moment:

    1. Work clothes: I am used to button-down shirts, polos, denim and khaki at work. I thought i'd like to step it up a notch, but not quite sure in how to go about doing that.

    2. Shoes: I need a few pairs of casual kicks for the summer. I want something versatile that goes with jeans, etc, because if I'm wearing shorts i'm going barefoot everywhere anyway.

    3. Jackets/accessories. I have a few jackets I like to wear during spring, but I'd like a few ideas on what's versatile and what's going to serve me well in the long run.

I'm used to dressing in jeans and hoodies when I'm out and about, but frankly that just doesn't cut it anymore when I have to sit down with two architects and discuss details over an upcoming project, etc. I want to look smart in these situations.

Anyway, hope this helps you help ME out.

Here are a few pics of me to give you an idea of my body-type, etc. Don't laugh, it'll hurt :wtc:

weekends are slow in TSL, but give it some time.

Do you have smart clothes for when you meet the architects etc? Like just a pair of slacks/well cut shirts?

Unfortunately I shrunk the last pair of "nice" slacks I had, so now they swing around my ankles when I wear them. Also, I've lost weight/cut up a bit since my last buying spree and have gone down a a waist size in my pant. I wear a 33/33 denim pant and that's the perfect length/snugness around my butt/thighs.

As far as shirts go, I have a few nicer shirts I wear, but I usually tuck them in, and since I don't have very many qualifying pairs of pants anymore, they stay on the hangar.

    Yeah I'd say so.

I was so thrilled to find a pair of jeans that fit me, that I will probably go back to the same store and buy another pair in a different colour.

Pants are a diff. story though :noes:

I've kinda got wide hips or something, so the skinny jeans don't really look that good on me anyway.

You can get nice denim in larger leg cuts if that's your thing too. Levi Vintage Collection 1947s, Ande Whall Cougar and Ironheart 634 come to mind.

    Hey, SamCanadian! Welcome to TSL!
kk so looks like your tops fit pretty nicely. the henley suits you well.
if you're wanting to step up your work attire, just focus on a nice fit. slim but not tight, and avoid bootcut. it'll look a bit less casual that way. michael j krell slim chinos would probably be a good idea, and his button-downs are nice too (http://michaeljkrell.com/wovens.htm), $76 after discount.
what kind of shoes do you wear, casually and for work?
consider investing in some nice chukkas or a leather shoe/ankle boot of some sort.
a place I've started looking at recently is gilt groupe, they have a new designer(s) on sale everyday, prices are very low compared to retail. heres my invite link, it's worth taking a look at some of the stuff on there: http://www.gilt.com/invite/dibadiba

The ones I'm wearing in the white shirt shots are Bluenote jeans. Just cheapos from a retail store in Canada. The other ones are "Division E" or something.
