If you do 200lb+ DB shrugs (or even smith machine shrugs) and your big 3 total is less than 1000 you're probably doing them wrong. I see so many skinny kids get over to shrugs and then grab the 100's+ and move them 5mm's for a few reps then throw them down. Obviously no one is impressed.

I've gotten the best results from staying with a weight that I can do at least 10 full reps with full range of motion. I alternate between front, side, and back shrugs for the best overall size. For reference, I normally use the 80lb DB's and do about 12-14 reps. My big 3 is about 1200.

    Hope it helps :wavey:

I don't get all the people on here who bench 250 and use the 100's for fuckin' overhead presses.

I bench around 150 *6'3/165* yes i'm eating and I shrug around 50 or so. I try to get super sets in just keep doing sets of 8 in between all my arm movements. I try to keep my hands / arms to the side and just make sure my arms stay straight and I just move my shoulders up my neck. I hope that's right.

What's wrong with repping 250 and repping 100's for military?

Isn't log bench an event sometimes? Also my friend's strongman comp had front raise hold for longest time, idk if bench has any carryover to that though.

Same, not even close (if we're talking 100 DB each hand...)
