I like to play music while I take a shower. I choose my phone as the mode of music playing because I don't have any other good options. I used to use my old phone without worry since I knew I was getting a Blackberry for Christmas, but now that I have one:

Is shower steam going to ruin my phone? My old phone had no problems. Otherwise, any recommendations for playing MP3s in this situation? I gave away my old phone to someone, so I can't use that one.

probably not, but if moisture gets inside the battery compartment say goodbye to warranty in most cases, as most phones have that water damage sticker.

my last phone said somewhere in the manual that shower steam can activate the moisture detection seal and void my warranty and even damage the phone. I still leave it on the counter when I shower but only if I keep the room well ventilated

Yeah it's probably going to activate the water damage sticker eventually. Personally I wouldn't do it. Just use your old phone!

You, um...use your phone to play music when you're in the shower?

If you are worried just wrap it in tissue, or cover it with a washcloth. I've done this before with a laptop, bad idea will fry the motherboard. But with cell phones you are pretty much fine been doing this for 3+ years.

I've killed at two phones with steam.

If you leave it down by the floor where its not steamy, it should be ok.
