Maybe because i'm new to the whole gym thing but I been going to the gym 4 days a week for about 1 1/2 hrs. I work on 2 muscles a day and i jog for 15+ minutes on the treadmill at 4.5 Speed w/ 2.0 INcline. I would've expected to lose a weight but in about 4 weeks i only lost like 6lbs wtf. I weighed at 177 or so and now i fluctuate between 169 and 171. I am trying to get to 155. Maybe its the muscle?

As for food diet~ i have to eat at work so the food insn't the healiest in the world but i try. for Eg. I have a club sandwich w/ no mayo and bacon w/ a diet coke. or a Turkey Burger w/ Ketchup and mustard instead of mayo and for dinner i have a salad from baja fresh but i can't even finish 1/2 of it

1.5 hours in the gym?! That's too long, IMO. Also, get your diet in check, get on fitday or just log your calories so you actually KNOW how much you're taking in. Try to eat 5+ times per day. Just read up on the basic shit. Also, 6lbs in 4 weeks really doesn't "sound about right" to me.

Eat more often and do cardio for longer than 15 minutes!

6 pounds in 4 weeks. Sounds about right to me.

    Care to share why?

It's a reasonable and healthy rate, especially while lifting and eating sufficiently.

If he's working out intensely and eating properly (plus the fact that he's new), he should be able to burn more than 1.5lbs a week.

First of all 6 pounds in 4 weeks is very good, a healthy amount is 2 pounds a week

You haven't provided much info on how you are training BUT if you are being pretty intense about it 1 1/2 hours is too much to be hitting the iron. Keep your training to an hour. You can train both bodyparts in this time if you don't spend a lot of time blabbing to yer buddies. 1 to 1 1/2 minutes rest between sets is all you need. Do your cardio AFTER your training...muscle burns calories 24/7 while cardio will give you a fat burning glow for a few hours

What are you doing for sets and reps??

Your weight doesn't sound bad depending on how tall ya are...

you have to eat.....5 or 6 small meals a day. Watch out for excess carbs in the way of bleached flour and excess sugar. If you are exercising with good intensity but you aren't eating a decent diet your body won't like it and you WILL burn muscle.

check out this site to help you out...

you want to minimize muscle loss while dieting so losing too quickly is a bad thing

I disagree. The most you want to be losing is 2.5 pounds a week. Any more than that and you are putting yourself at a good risk of losing muscle mass. And, seeing as he is intensely working out, it would be quite disheartening to lose muscle mass.

For a couple months now I have kicked up my workout to be very intense and I have lost exactly 0 pounds, but I have noticed great results in my physique. I'm knocking off fat, not pounds!

Now if he was over 250 pounds and needed to lose weight (perhaps for health reasons), more than 2.5 pounds a week is fine because you aren't necessarily worried about losing muscle at that point-- just so long as you are taking a multi-vitamin to get what you may be missing.

You could be doing 2.5 pounds a week, as a rule of thumb for cutting. But, let's not kid ourselves, anywhere between 1 and 3 pounds a week "sounds about right" seeing as there is nothing necessarily "wrong" about it
