I was reading a sherdog article where the author felt that Randy/Nog shouldn't have been given fight of the night because of their already large paycheck, and that FOTN should be given to an undercard match up.

    Do you guys agree?

I don't think their should be any limitations to who can get it personally, but I was curious what you guys think.

In my opinion the purpose of the bonuses are to make the fighters want to push them selves so the fights are higher paced and more enjoyable. I think this should apply to the main events also. True, they will notice 60K far less than someone fighting for $2000/$2000 but they also have the chance to win the bonuses.

I think whoever has the best fight should get it personally. Perhaps they could offer another undercard bonus but to me FOTN is exactly that, fight of the night. If FOTN happens to be the headliner then so be it.

The headliners get larger paychecks per fight, but they also have bigger training camps and thus more people they have to pay once the fight is done.
I don't think they should be exempt from the bonuses otherwise the headlining fights could get boring from fighters just playing it safe.

If you prove to the fans that you're a top notch fighter you'll get your shot at the larger prize money payouts.

everyone should have an equal opportunity at getting a bonus. just cause it's the main event doesn't mean it's going to be the best fight.

FOTN should go to the best fight of the night.
KOOTN should go to the most impressive knock out
SOTN should go to the most impressive submission

I don't see how the fighters base salaries have any bearings on this...

    How could you agree?

Yeah, Randy, you actually did have the fight of the night, but uh... well, we are going to give the money to this other guy that nobody knows because his fight was on the undercard, and, well uh... it was pretty good, too. Not as good as yours but...

    /sherdog logic.

maybe an undercard bonus as incentive for more exciting undercard fights.

speaking of which... any ideas why Nate got best KO instead of Duffy? You'd think setting an organization record for fastest KO would be worth a bonus.

Nates was much more impressive looking.

And whats more impressive, KOing a no-namer with a jab or knocking Maia into next week with a HUGE right hand.

wtf is going on with photobucket? Every time a pic is embedded from there, I get the bandwidth error image, but if I copy & paste the url, it shows the pic.

And yeah, the one-shot was nice, and yeah Maia is a bigger name to KO. And I'm not complaining, because it was a great KO, and Nate is one of my favorite fighters.

I just think the new record in his first UFC fight deserves some recognition. :dunno:

Bonuses should go to whoever deserves them regardless of what they are getting paid.

    this

People have to work to even make headline fights, so if they perform they should be rewarded regardless
