Current situation: I've got a 3g 20GB iPod, and I'm thinking about selling it on eBay and getting a 30GB iPod Photo. I figure my 3g will fetch between $200-250 on eBay, and with that current coupon for Apple + education discount, I can get the 30GB iPod Photo for about $310, including taxes. I know there are rumors of a new iPod coming out in June, but I won't be able to use the coupon then, and the value of my current iPod will have dropped by then. Any suggestions?

Cut your losses and sell it to me for $100. Chalk it up as one of lifes hard lessons.

At least try to sell your current ipod. Post it on some of the mac forums and big forums around, and if those don't work try ebay.

I found 40GB to be waaay to much space, at least for me. The 4GB is much easier to manage and I now listen to most of the music I keep on it. With the 40GB, I would have music on there "just because".

With photo, disk space is used a little differently though..

hold off til the 5G ipods come out later this year. one rumor was they switched to a processor that's three-times power efficient, meaning almost 40 hours of battery life. :coold: and by the look of the latest packaging (the downplay of the word "photo" and more emphasis "iPod"), color screens are gonna be standard.

yea, i hear ya. at the time the 20gb was too much space for me as well. only had about 6gb of music on there, and as you said, alot of it was on there 'just because'. i also go to the gym and such so i got a case for the iPod, but was still a pita to use at the gym. mini is much more efficient at the gym, imo.

I bought a shuffle for the gym and found the same thing, 512MB was perfect, I don't think I would want to manage the 1GB without an LCD.
