    i gave up with front squats. too fucking painful and the bar pushing against my throat didn't help

    lol, true. when i first started, it hurt me bad, and i still bruise from them, but i figure if guys can do them with 500+ pounds i can do it with the pussy weight i'm doing :mamoru:

    is there any big advantage to using cross arms versues the hang clean style grip? or is just whichever is easier for you?

    I dunno but the good thing with front squats you pretty much have no choice but to use the right form. You cant cheat when you are doing them

    oh and obviously keep your elbows up at all times, in case there's someone that didn't know...

    I don't agree with this. A decent clean grip will have the bar resting comfortably on your delts, clavicle, but the bar is never really pushed into your throat.

    I feel it on my throat even with the clean grip (fingers holding the bar, not the hand) it's never going to be comfortable, especially when youre doing heavy weight and trying to stay upright the whole time.

    I'm getting used to it, but I won't dare go over 185, my wrist flexibility still sucks (clean grip)

    Clean grip rapes my wrists, so I stick to arms crossed when I can.
