Should I trade my 80GB iPod Classic for a 1st gen 16GB iPod Touch?

I was offered a straight up trade for a 16GB iPod Touch. I don't know what to do. 16GB is enough space for me, but I'm afraid I won't like the touch screen or that it's more fragile then the Classic. It would be cool to have all the features and apps the Touch has though. What makes the 1st gen different from the current model? I can just upgrade to the latest firmware to have all the current features right?

    I wouldn't.

I rarely used my Touch because it wasn't practical for taking to the gym, running, or anything where you don't want to keep taking it out of your pocket.

If it's for the apps, email, etc, you'll need to find a wi-fi connection before they're fully functional. If you're using it for music, and podcasts, stick with the classic. You'll have a lot more space, and it's easier to flip through tracks in your pocket.

It's either an iPhone or Classic for me. At lease with the iPhone you can use your data no matter where you are.

No. 1st gen touch is meh compared to the 2nd... I used to have an iPod classic and it was MUCH better for listening to music than the touch is... the touch is if you want to be able to use iPhone apps without the phone, imo.
