last month ive been taking supplements
protein shakes/weight gainers/multi v etc and working out pretty often.
i then became very very ILL, and have been experiencing other health problems such as anxiety/hormone changes etc. I SUSPECT that SOME of my health problems may have come from taking the gainers/supplements. i have been on medication for the flu and stopped working out/taking the supps/

obviously i lost a bunch of gains and back to where i started. My question is, i haven't officially gotten my test results as to what may be wrong but the flu and other viruses is out of my body. Should I start taking the supps again or change it up? I have been thinking of taking monster milk. Any inputs? plz dont flame. thanks

I'm far from the expert on this matter, but maybe you should list your supplements so people can chirp in?

this thread is a train wreck

so you suddenly introduced a group of supplements into your diet, then "got sick" and you blame the supplements? How are you supposed to know which one when you started taking them all at the same time? You could re-introduce them into your diet one at a time to see if you notice any changes.

hormones dont change from high protein. change or stop taking the multi. most people on here consume over 200 grams of protein on the regular.

stick with a protein and dump the weight gainer and eat more its pretty simple.

no. the supps did not make you sick unless you got a tainted batch. which is very unlikely.

The only negative could be over working your kidneys to pass out more protein than your body can absorb.

AFAIK there's no research that shows even 300+g a day has any detrimental effects.

I'm sure on a healthy set of kidneys, no. But I'm sure the extra load on anyone with any kidney issues wouldn't do them any favours.

so don't take supplements? all you really need is a solid diet and enough sleep to get stronger and build muscle.

    1) If you really are that weary of the supplements, then don't take them. All they do is give you an "edge" but by no means make or break the results. Diet and routine build your body.

    2) You got the flu because you were exposed to the influenza virus. Supplements don't cause the flu, the flu virus does.

    3) None of the supplements you were taking have been associates with anxiety issues. I might try to throw the blame at a pre-workout supplement, but since you're not on one, I can't see any reason weight gainer, protein, or multi's would cause anxiety disorder problems.

    4) I think it's a coinsidence that your anxiety problems started around the same time you took supplements. Try to recall what was going on around that time or in the weeks prior. Any large events that caused stress? Was work/school overwhelming you? Were you worried about your health?
It's not uncommon for things you consume to cause anxiety, but the things you listed typically don't.

    5) 180g of protein just from shakes alone is too much for someone, especially someone at 155lbs.
Eat more food and less shakes.
