I would love to get one of course but do you think I should keep learning with the S2 and save some money to buy it in about a year or move up to a better camera right away (thinking of D70)?

Some of my pictures... (taken with an Powershot S2)

You have a good eye for things. Question is, can you afford it. It is much more than buying just the D70 kit.

That's what's holding me back... around $1000 for the kit, plus memory card, extra batteries, case, tripod, perhaps another lens, filter, etc :noes: I have the money, but is it THAT big of a difference? :hsd: The S2 is a great camera, but I don't like the noise levels on semi-dark/dark images... and I would love to have different lenses, better DOP and more control of the camera... specially the focus :o

As soon as you get it you just want to buy more and more stuff :hs: It's a very expensive hobby. Worth it though IMO

sounds like you know the basics of photography. You should move up as soon as possible ... all you need is the kit for now. There is no sense spending a year learning a camera then changing to a DSLR... just get it now

you have the eye and the interest, just make sure you set in your mind that you will end up spending easily twice of what your camera cost.
