    I'm leaning towards JS.

    :o

  2. it would be nice to start off with javascript first and get familiar with functions and things like that. you'll find PHP much easier to learn once you get a grasp of javascript, but you don't need to go too in-depth in javascript.

do you have any programming experience?

php is better for teaching you how to actually program

    I don't know....

I don't know what it's like to build an entire site in javascript vs PHP as I started with PHP and use javascript occasionally for little things...

    They are pretty similar languages.

I would think if you could learn one, picking up the other would be no problem.

  12. adding to my previous post, php is much better for when it comes to developing websites for the web. so if that's the route you want to go, make sure you spend most of your time on php.

the js is there too for site development, but once you understand sessions and echos and things like that, you could do so much more with php.

Both are massive massive steps up from HTML and CSS. those are really just markup languages that apply style and formatting to text.

PHP and Javascript are programming languages with routines, loops and conditional statements... Much more complicated but 100% worth the effort of learning.

I'd actually recommend beggining with C. PHP and Javascript both have very similar syntax to C and understanding C will help making the others a breeze to learn
