I'm leaning towards JS.
what do you already know?
Var is pretty cool
do you have any programming experience?
php is better for teaching you how to actually program
XHTML and CSS.
I don't know....
They are pretty similar languages.
I would think if you could learn one, picking up the other would be no problem.
adding to my previous post, php is much better for when it comes to developing websites for the web. so if that's the route you want to go, make sure you spend most of your time on php.
the js is there too for site development, but once you understand sessions and echos and things like that, you could do so much more with php.
Both are massive massive steps up from HTML and CSS. those are really just markup languages that apply style and formatting to text.
