once a lady asked me to take a picture of her with her D50.. it didnt really impress me. it was alright.. i know the D50 is better than the 300D.. but honestly I was more happy with my 300D over her D50.. physical wise.. im sure the D50 image quality and stuff is better.. anyways.. My brand new 20D should be here soon.. so bye bye 300D. but if you MUST get a D50.. dont get a kit lens..w aste if money. just buy the body off someone.. or off ebay.. or check www.fredmiranda.com for good deals on used cameras/gear

I have the 18-55mm kit lens along with other lenses and i find this lens to be great for the money especially when bought as the kit lens. :)

I agree. I'd pass on the kit lens. Buy the D50 for $500 at Beachcamera.com and shop around for a good nikkor lens. If you can afford it, order the 18-200VR.

i have to look at it from a financial point of view. i need the most for my money. that and this is gonna be my first SLR. i keep reading the kit lens with a D50 is crap, so i decided to search for a body seperate from the lens.

don't get the Tamron 70-300... it's very soft and sadly, it's junk. The Tamron 28-75 f/2.8 XR Di is worth the $350, though. Don't bother with the package deals that give you (for the most part) worthless lenses. You'll thank us later once you learn more about glass.
