    i'm 6'4'' and weigh 190lbs.

:dunno: Shouldn't be a problem to conceal a full size I guess.

I held both the 9mm and 45 para and I wouldn't get one, you feel that you don't have any control over it even with the pinky grips. Its feels like if you go and shoot it its gonna wailon your wrist unless you have a very very tight death hold grip on it. Plus because its a couble stack its very very wide. I'd go for a combat commander or a fullsize.

Would a full size Para be a good choice?

What do you think about the new Taurus PT1911?

I'd love to get a used Kimber or Dan Wesson but it's near impossible to find a nice one for under $600

Are you dead set on getting a 1911? If so:

    a. Get a full size

    b. Your almost there, save up for the one you want.

I'd say save up and get what you really want without compromising. If not, and you get a compromise, that's money that could have gone towards something nice, and you'll regret it. Especially if your getting a 1911.

If you can, save up just a little more cash and get what you really want like a Kimber, S&W 1911 or Wesson or ????... with the nicer components you want to get now. Trust me, you never regret getting the nicer gun in the end. It's better to have 2 or 3 nice pistols than a dozen $300 guns.

I love my Wesson and I don't regret spending a single penny.

You're right......I had planned on trying to pay off my dirtbike with my tax return ($2100) but I think i'll get a nice full size 1911 that I want (kimber,Wesson,SW,ect...) and throw what I have left towards the dirtbike.

I like the grips you have AB13, where are they from?

    Found these and liked them.

I hear that full size 1911s are easier to conceal than some plastic subcompacts because they are thinner. So you may not be sacrificing concealability by going full size 1911.

I have no problems concealing my fullsize 1911, but I can't really compare it to concealing anything else, since it's my first CC piece.

Barrel length doesn't have much to do with concealability. The thickness of the grip is the primary consideration, followed by the length of the grip.

I know there have been issues with others but S&W seems to have figured it out and their design seems to work pretty well. Very few issues I have read about and I have been researching entry level ($1K) and semi custom ($2K) 1911s for a while now.
