I am going to upgrade my current iMac(old version with the circular base) because it is getting really old and slow.
But beause of school and portablility i am starting to think of buying a MacBook or MBP.
I have never owned a laptop, but have used them multiple times.
I mainly browse OT, watch video, and listen to music. No gaming.
Should i stick with the desktop or laptop?
Will the laptop be noticibly slower to do just the things that i do?

given that you don't game, MB does everything else the iMac does in a portable package, and supports a second monitor... sounds like a win to me :bigthumb:

Why would you want your parents to spend more than they have to?

Anyway this shouldn't even be a question, Laptop > Desktop.

OSX likes at least 1 gig...so upgrade to at least 1 gig then...2 gigs is slightly overkill i agree....

I just got myself a MBP with 1.5gb of ram, it does slow down a little bit when running the older osx programs.

I got mine with the matte display I'm liking it more and more than the overly glossy mac book screen. Battery like while web surfing is about 3.5 hours or so

I love the glossy screen .. I think people overanalyze it and make too big of a deal out of it. I don't see any reflections at all .. looks good.
