I'm buying a Macbook Pro (yay!)... Quick question. Should I or should I not go for the glossy screen? Advantages / Disadvantages?

if you use it outside, i wouldnt recommend glossy.

thats why i got the matte, you cant see shit on the glossy outside bc of the glare

you can see finger prints, dust, light, reflections, can't use it outdoors with the glossy display

I got the matte because the glossy display reflected way too much light for me.

These are the first positive comments I've heard about the glossy screen yet. Interesting.

I like the glossy screen. I think everything does look better. But it must be kept clean or else it looks horrible.

I love my glossy screen, especially for watching movies...

Whenever anyone sees my computer thats always the first thing they comment on... how clear the screen is...

But, I always use mine inside, and with well distribuited lighting...

As far as the fingerprints, sure they show up, but I keep my computer clean, so its not that big of a deal...

I would go matte because most of the time, I'm inside under fluoroescent lights. The glare can get pretty bad in some cases

I have a MB (glossy screen) and I love it indoors. I've nevber tried out outdoors, but I had an HP with glossy screen and it was unbearable outside.

i've seen a glossy screen on an hp laptop, it was nice. however, i could see it being annoying really quickly

my lcd monitor screen is matte, i think i'd stick with that, at least for my application, because of overhead lighting glare

Glossy screens never look natural to me. Everything seems way to extreme, like the contrast is maxed out with max brightness and all of the color/hue adjustments out of whack. It's like listening to a stereo with the treble and bass floored.

....Plus they get mucked up/reflect everything easily.

Glossy = If you're just using it for random crap

Matte = Photography, videography, graphic design (all professional)

I LOVE the look of the glossy display. However, for me I'd say matte is more practical. Less glare and not attracting fingerprints ftw. Had glossy display been available when I bought my MacBook Pro, I probably would have got it. However, after hearing of said issues with it, it's probably good that I didn't :hs: They are gorgous though :o
