GUN Should I get an XBOX 360 or a GLOCK 19?

Ok. So I have my handgun of choice narrowed down to a Glock 19. But I also really want a 360. So here is what I've been rolling around in my head:

Glock 19: Good to have if I ever really need it. I'm at school in the Liberal bastion of Madison, WI at least 9 months per year, and shooting ranges aren't close enough to make even semi-frequent visits. However, the 08 governor's race should be pretty close, and if the Republican wins, I can almost guarantee we'll have concealed carry within the next year, in which case I'd like to already own a concealable pistol.

Xbox 360: Less initial cost. Long term cost will probably be similar considering the games vs. ammo cost. However, I'll be able to use this almost daily, as opposed to the gun, which might not even be monthly. In case of a home invasion, I can also use the console as a heavy close-quarters weapon, as well as using the wireless controllers as thrown projectiles. I also will be able to shoot people daily with it without having to evade the coppers.

I can only afford a 500 or 600 dollar splurge right now. Keep in mind I can shoot the .38 and .22 revolvers with the same frequency as a gun I'd have to buy. Or I could get the Official OT Gun Crew game, Dead Rising, and vent my frustrations in that way. What should I do, Gun Crew?

Go for the glock. Given time, the cost of the 360 will continue to drop.

The price on the 360's is going to drop as soon as the PS3 comes out.

    Get the G19.

I hate buying electronics. When I'm tired of it they're worthless. When I get tired of a gun its still worth what I paid for it.

    Couldn't have said it better...

But, buy the glock and put the 360 on your credit card :big grin:

I just finished paying off my $900 credit card balance. I'm sticking to my debit card for awhile.

If you can't afford both, you can't afford to shoot the Glock 19 enough to be proficient.

Tried an XD the last time I was at the range. It was pretty good overall, but I like the glock much better.

:ugh: What do you know of my shooting proficiency before I purchase a new gun? I've the G19 numerous times, and am pretty proficient I'd say, not to mention my shooting practice in general with other guns.

You've got $600 to spend. Get a 360 and a Kel-tec. It'll be easier to hide and it'll be a lot cheaper. You might think about getting a Taurus .357, too. Either way the Glock sounds like it's more than you need right now. Buy it later when you can use it. Just get something to tide you over.

video game technology goes obsolete in the blink of an eye. A quality firearm is a timeless, beautiful representation of mechanical excellence that you can enjoy just the same for decades. Your choice is clear. Enjoy your new glock :)

Depending on what answer you want (or reassurances), the choice of forum will tell you what answer you're going to get before you even ask it. Posting a gun vs game thread in a gun forum will of course get you the answer of 'buy the gun'. Posting this exact question in a 'gamerzRus' forum will get you a 'duh, get the xbox' answer.

If you have a PC that you can game on ... use that and get the gun.

My priorities are in a different place: I don't even own a PS2. I do a little gaming on my PC, but the money I guess I could have used to buy a PS2 just bought another 1000 rounds of .223 for the AR. Somehow, I just think I'll enjoy that more
