Been thinking lately about treating myself to a nice handgun. Right now all I have is a few plastic 9mm toys, and I think it would be kinda nice to get one of the handguns I've been drooling over for awhile.

Right now I'm considering a CZ 75 with some work done to it, or maybe an STI or Dan Wesson 1911. All my handguns are 9mm at the moment, so keep in mind the CZ 75 would be an addition to that, or a 1911 could "expand my horizons", so to speak.

    Give me your opinions. :greddy:

I got both (75b-sa, valor) but since you already have a bunch of 9mm's, id get the 1911.

I like the idea of the CZ, it wont be a money pit that most 1911's end up being, they're like $500otd and work wonderful. P-01 owner here :wavey:

Anyone handled SP01 and P01? Do they have same dimension around the grip and same pointability?

Obviously the Valor is better, but how would you guys compare the PM7 to the Valor?

It's prettier and got more bells and whistles, same rock solid DW fit and finish that the PM7 has. That said, I'll go up to the line with any Valor w/ my PM7 and would not feel undergunned. :) Front checkering is nice, so is the finish. I have a little bit of work on my PM7 of things I need that levels things out.

As for 75b, over the SP01. I'd go with the SP01, more specifically the Shadow. Go to CZCustom.com and check out his packages.

Pro's: Upswept beavertail (= higher grip), No FPB (doesn't necessarily mean "better" trigger "most" of the time) full length dust cover, beveled mag well, newer style mag release w/ extended mag button. ambi safety, better rear sights.

Cons: Not CCW friendly, little heavy.

I chose a 75b over the SP01 because almost all of my friends own a SP01, and I wanted a sleeper to kick their butts with. lol That, and it's also my new favorite CCW gun.

I'm an unabashed cz slut, but I love me some 1911's. Actually, I pretty much only shoot 9mm out of cz's, and 45 pretty much only out of 1911's.

Tough call.... A tricked out '75SA would probably be cheaper than a decent 1911 though......

If you've already got a bunch of practical guns, I'd personally lean towards the Dan Wesson.

Well, this is going to wait a few months so I'll have plenty of time to decide. Just got a good deal on a 700 VSF. :naughty:
