A&P Should I get a 30D or 40D?

  1. I am upgrading from my Rebel XT and I only have a small collection of lenses... the 50mm f/1.8 and Sigma 10-20... I'm somewhat pleased with my XT, however, I'd like something with a better... I shoot a lot of real estate photos and looking to shoot portraits (and get into strobist soon)

Either will be a nice upgrade from the XT. I like my 40D, though. If you've got the money, go for the 40D.

do not be fooled by the live view. Me and a coworker have the 40D and the only time live view has ever been used is when he was taking a picture while driving and thought it would not be safe to use the viewfinder.

If you get the 40D, get it cause it is self cleaning. or that the proc is newer or that the iso is cleaner at higher ISO's or that it has faster FPS (which many hate on, but not if you got kids or shoot pictures of them

I was so going to do that. :mamoru: :OT:

The 30D is a good camera. But people are always  when you whip out the 40D.

haha I think that only happens when someone whips out a 5D or better. The 30D and 40D are nice cameras, but people don't usually  to a 40d. Just what I've experienced (or not experienced haha)

I think liveview is really useful. I use it everytime my camera is on a tripod (especially doing macro and landscapes) to get perfect focus. You can zoom in to 10x to get perfect focus exactly where you want it.

Give it a shot. I have to agree that it's pretty useless off a tripod though.
