There's a PL meet March 29th about 20mins away from campus. My buddies want to compete, but I don't want to make myself look like a fool.

    1) I don't know if 20 days is enough time to teach myself to lift w/ a belt as all my lifts have been raw to this point.
    2) I pulled 500 as of 2 weeks ago @ 168 (or something around there)
    3) Squat and bench suck, hence the reason I don't want to compete...

Like today squats were last set 305x4. Bench, well I haven't done bb bench in a while and I don't know what the rules are and shit, but since I haven't done it in a while I want to be modest and say I can't get much more than 230.

    I think it's not worth it :/

For what it's worth, if I drop water weight I can do somewhere around 160-165 weight class (I don't know what the weight classes are..)

Why not? Your lifts are good for your bodyweight, especially your deadlift :)

Don't worry about it..no one cares

Your numbers are perfectly fine really though. Most people squat much less than they deadlift (to legit depth anyways :mamoru:). Same with bench..

I wouldn't cut water weight for you first meet and you don't have to wear a belt.

Your deadlift is damn good for your size/weight so I would do the comp just to get a feel for where you are at with your 3 lifts. Then spend a good 6 months really working on getting the bench and squat and up. After a year, there is no reason you can't be doing very well for your weight in all 3 lifts.
Especially since you're short, bench should come fairly easily to you.

    bit off topic..

while i agree that PR's make the day go round.. PL has come down to this type of mentality because of the reality that there is little actual competition anymore in powerlifting.

collegiate powerlifting is about the only type of powerlifting now where true competitive nature is still around, cuz nobody knows who the big dogs are and everybody wants to win, bad.. they are some of the most exciting meets for this very reason

at most PL meets there are about 700 divisions so everybody wins :) same thing happens at tiny SM competitions, but at least there theres only 2 divisions. lightweight and big fucks.
