what are you guys seeing for real world mileage? and state your engine please...

I need a cheap ride to replace my recently totalled nissan maxima. I need to use it for carrying stuff for my house remodelling, but also as a daily driver for the 110 mile round trip commute. My maxima did the 110 mile drive with no complaints and still runs like a champ even at 161k.
i have my concerns about a ranger though being able to handle it. Oh yeah, ill be buying the smallest engine, with 4wd.

going to carry refuse to the dump (plaster, wood lathes, assorted other crap) from remodelling my house. will put a cap on so that i can carry plywood, drywall, etc. my main concern is gas mileage.

you dont want the 2.3. totally underpowered. we dont even stock them. the ford 6cyl 3.0 feels like a 4 banger.

  18. Have you looked at a Tacoma? Friend got a new 2004 for around $13k. I'm going to guess that it's the lowest trim you can get for it, but it moves stuff :hs:

it will loose its value fastest if you get one, its underpowered, its not really cheaper. the tacoma is a better truck.
