should girls work out the way guys work out?

    my gf is gonna start lifting weights with me instead of only doing cardio and my question is: is it beneficial for her to work out the way I work out?

    my routine is
    day 1:chest
    day 2:legs
    day 3:shoulders
    day 4: back

    She is going to be doing 1 day on 1 day off, should she be dedicating an entire day to just shoulders? She doesn't want to become a hardbody, I know she isn't going to get bulky or anything but I don't want her to get all cut up either. Goals are to get leaner and slightly toned especially legs and stomach.

    so what should she do?

    she is like 5'3 120 pounds

    how about rep scheme for women? everyone is always saying super low weight and super high reps for women, but that just seems dumb.

    I was thinking more like medium weight, medium reps. 4x8's

    Or would it be better for them to do 5x5's heavy weight?

    There's some evidence that women need slightly more reps/sets than guys for stimulation. If she's a total noob to this lifting thing, I honestly think your schedule might overwhelm her. A basic push/pull or full-body setup on a 5x5 or even a 3x10 till she gets the hang of it would be better imo.

    My mom's been begging me for a routine. She's a fatty and wants to lose weight. Since I really don't know anything about losing weight I just told her to do some cardio and lift some weights. But didn't really tell her what and now she's bugging me to write a routine for her.

    Give her a simple, 3x a week fullbody thing :dunno: with cardio on days off. I wouldn't start a mom who isn't used to working out on anything like deads though :o

    Well I told her to swim, so she goes to some water aerobics class on monday, then on tuesday she does the xpress zone at 24 hr, then on wednesday's she goes bowling(her idea of cardio?), thursday she hits a salsa class 24 hr does. friday-sunday shes lazy

    I remember reading swimming was actually one of the worst exercises in terms of fat loss. It's something due to the cold water, just for some basic info.

    girl i know has been on christophers routine since last july. she was afraid of getting all manly-like, knowing nothing about the benefits of squats for her narrow ass.

    wow. what if i made her do laps in the hot tub :mamoru:

    Weird, i just thought it would be good cardio and also a decent full body workout.

    she's too fat/old to run. she's really not like beached whale fat, the typical overweight mom but she says she can't run because it hurts her knees. when she said that i told her to use the bike or the elliptical but she declined. this is why i haven't really tried to help her too much, because it doesn't seem like she wants to help herself.

    she's my mom, but there are a couple of girls i know that i would love to take to the gym and transform :naughty:

    pretty much. she's doing better than she was, but she's not super dedicated yet. i told her that when she does it on her own for a couple of months and shows me shes serious that i'd see what i could do to help. even her diet is a little better, she still eats pretty much what she wants, but she'll eat half of it and save the other half for another meal and has cut out all sodas.
