Not looking to spend over $1,000. I currently have a Browning sweet 16 inherited from my grandfather (yes it was made in Belgium).

I also have a Remington 870 20 guage. I know people go :ugh: 20 gauge, but honestly it's a very good gun. I wouldn't take it deer hunting, but I mainly hunt pheasant anyway. A little turkey, but not much. Even less so deer hunting. I'd like the option, of course. I only get a chance to go 2-3 times a year.

12 gauge would be more so what I'm looking for.

    What say you? :hs:

I'd love to have a Sweet Sixteen or Light Twenty :hs: Just buy a rifled 20 gauge barrel and hunt deer with it; though they dont have quite the power of a 12 gauge there are still plenty of good 20 gauge slugs out there. There's a run-down of slug guns in the new field and stream actually.

Heres something I came across in 'Guns n Ammo' - 20 Guage Mossberg Bantam -

I'll post the excerpt below. Although I have never fired one, it looks to be a rather decent shotgun. Comes with modified/full choke attachment. I think its in the $250-$300 range.

"The Bantam stock is one inch shorter than a standard stock. Reduced dimensions in the hand grip area make it easier for smaller hands to hold grip and reach trigger. A special 22" barrell to reduce weight make it easier to swing. Bantam models include a certificate for a standard size replacement stock at a friendly price."

I was thinking about getting one myself, but then again I'm an average sized guy.. 145lbs

It looks like your looking for a 12 guage but I thought I'd post this anyways, maybe some others could find it useful. :nx:

I think I'm about to start shooting skeet and trap a lot. Trying to decide how much I should invest in an o/u.

Well I'm not selling the sweet 16. :hs: Not only is it a great gun, but my grandfather gave it to me before he found out the one he kept for himself was not made in Belgium.

Maybe I'll just save for an O/U.

It'll shoot everything except for reduced loads. With that said the 11-87 is solid shotgun with mild recoil characteristics.

most autos that claim to handle all loads won't; benellis seem to need a good break in with 3 1/2s but I've still heard of cases where they just won't cycle light loads.
