since i can't legally have a semi-auto or a pump where i live, i'm going to get an under/over instead. i'm joining a club to shoot skeet and clay trap with my grandfather, and since i have a farming family i'm also planning on shooting rabbits and foxes on the weekends.

so - what's a good choice of gun i can use for both kinds of shooting, given a budget of around aus$1500?

    .

I shot a friend's on Monday that was ported and balanced. I only missed 3 clays all afternoon between it and his Browning Recoilles Trap Gun. Sucks when you shoot better with someone else's gun than you do with your own :hsugh:

Stoeger (sp?). I think they are made in Turkey. I saw the last season at Academy and they seemed very well built and around $500. I spoke to a guy buying one and he told me he purchased one the previous day and came back for a second one for his son cause he was impressed by them.

you can if you have good reason, eg farmers, professional shooters who need them for vermin destruction.

damn the day that "i have the money, and that's what I want" isn't a good enough reason for me to buy a fucking firearm.

they changed the laws about 10 years ago. i was all set to buy a benelli semi-auto shotgun, had the cash and (because i was 16) dad's approval, then some asshole went on a rampage in tasmania and killed 30 or so people, so the government tightened up all the laws ftl.

I'm willing to bet that more people lose their lives or are otherwise injured in car accidents than by shotguns.... So why take the shotgun away from the people????

not only shotguns, all semi auto and pump action rifles too. and pistols have always been really hard to get, now unless you're a cop, security guard or in a pistol club, you can forget it.

my original point remains... Certainly cars have injured/killed more people than all firearms in the hands of civilians.... So why outlaw guns?

The TOOL is not bad. Although the person using it may be. Address the problem. The tool is not the problem... The person is the problem.

i had winchester rifles a while back, i rate them highly.

and i think thats fair enough too. as much as i'd like to own one, i would hate to think that just anyone could go out and buy one, even tho as P07r0457 said it is the person, not the tool, that causes the problem.

In Oregon, as long as you're not a felon, are not pending felony charges, not on probation/parole, and do not have any restraining orders against you, then you can purchase a firearm. We have no problems.

In fact, statistics show that increasing gun ownership among law-abiding citizens helps reduce crime, overall.

hello there fello aussie shooter... ive got a Rizzini Hombra 12g 30' with adjustable chokes im thinking of selling soon, if you're in the brisbane area, lol...?

if not im with the guy that suggested the Winchester 101... ive shot a few shotguns, and the 101 is still the nicest O/U ive shot.

btw... if you get into either Trap or Skeet fairly seriously you are gonna want to get a gun designed for one or the other... i got myself a 30' sporter thinking that i could use it for both, but then i got serious with Skeet and now i "need" to get another gun...
