thought i'd show you guys, mix it up a bit. nothing too spectacular, i had to balance playing and shooting :hs: all were shot with a sony a100. my d90 doesn't have a decent telephoto yet :wtc: the watermark/logo isn't mine- its the field that we were playing at. the owner is using the photos on his website.

my second time shooting paintball, and the lighting was a bit difficult to shoot with. oh well, i still haven't had a formal teaching, so i don't think they're that bad. any input would be great :bigthumb:

maybe it's because i'm not into paintball but those pics are boring. just people crouching and looking down a barrel. make it more exciting.

I used to play, and although the pics make me miss playing, they do not show the excitement that happens on the field. I'm no photog by any means, but maybe back off the subject a little bit to show more action.

Some of the better pics I see are of people getting bunkered, or when two opposing players are at the same bunker but don't realize (or maybe they do) that there is a player on the other side.

Definitely needs to show more of the intensity that the game has to offer.

they all give the impression they're posed shots

most shots that give the feeling of action will have paint in them somewhere. Whether it be coming out of a barrel, or a player just getting hit. Players getting gogged are some of the best shots used in magazines, as are the ones where you can see puffs of air and a ball or 2 in the air. Those elements are missing from these photos.

Ah man, I feel like I'm back at PbNation now. :bigthumb:

Good shots technically, I like 3 and 8.

I've always wanted to try a long exposure during a night game of the breakout, wide angle view behind or above the startbox, with a strobe going off a couple times to freeze the action throughout the exposure. Dunno if that made any sense or not.

Tell you buddy to get off his knees at the start box. That was 2005 HK style. Other than that I like the detail and they look like normal PB shots like in any mag.

they look like snapshots that were taken w/ a pns. why do you have iso at 200?

wait what? what's wrong with 200 outside?

I'm curious as to why you'd question 200?

For example the literature I have read on the D300 says it gets it's best images at 200

    :dunno:

they were all mimicking the xball style...they all laned and didn't move off the break on that particular game...and still won

but yeah i see what you guys mean about the shots not being all that exciting. i'll try to capture the excitement next time around.

Shots are good, but intensity is lacking. Those shots are so close that if you could see the subjects eyes I think you'd have what they need, but that wouldn't be very safe.

A shot from behind a little more and wider I think would work good.

Lol. I used to p[lay X Ball and only HK did that and we did it in the few joke matches we played. All in good fun and if it was practice all the power to them. I actually dove through the X one scrimmage and shot some guy in the back... Good times.

Oh god I know. I used to hate tearing down the field. I actually had to pack up the DYE field from World Cup 05 and take it back to NY with us. They gave us no tools and we had to roll around on the X to get it to deflate. Beat city.
