after reading about the yongnuo yn460 on potn, i decided to pick one up on ebay. it was only $40 shipped from china for a full manual flash with a built in optical slave. after using it a bit tonight, i really like it for what it is. i like it better than the vivitar 285 i had, but its not quite as bright. it recharges faster than the 285 by a long shot, ~5 sec for a full power shot. i'll try to do some test comparison shots with it and my 550 later.

here's my favorite shot i got tonight. i wanted to try to replicate a shot i saw of a dancer, turns out that i didn't get what i was going for. i think i got something much better than what i was intending for.

it seemed to be a little quieter, but it wasn't silent. made about the same amount of noise as my 550.

i was using the optical trigger, which works really well indoors. this week i'm going to try to take it outside and see how well the optical trigger works when its brighter out.

Nice shot! Doesn't look like a "flash" shot.

seems to be pretty solidly built, and its not like the inside electronics for all the expensive flashes aren't made in china anyways :dunno:

Interesting! This might be a good flash to pair w/ some Cactus V4 triggers...

    Ballin' on a budget!

if you are using them indoors, you should only need 1 receiver too, since the flashes have built in optical slaves.
