Awesome gun! I fired a 4 inch service model and a 5 inch tactical model. The tactical was amazing.

I was looking at getting a Glock 27 next week but I think I've changed my mind now. Sure the XD40 is a lot larger and harder to conceal but I love the way it feels and fires.

Any opinions against buying it instead of the Glock?

Have you shot the Glock 27, or even tried the Glock 23? I'v never shot an XD, but would love to. I have heard nothing but good things about them. Springfield also makes a sub-compact XD, I don't know if they make it in .40 but I have seen pics of the 9mm, maybe that is worth a look.

No, I've had no luck finding one to shoot. :wtc:

I'm trying to borrow my friends Glock 22 and shoot it before I make a final decision. Its the closest I can find to a 27. :hs:

I like the P99 but its the most expensive out of all of them. Plus, I haven't heard as much on them as the G27 or XD. I'd love to try one out if I could find someone with one.

You'll be much more likely to carry a G27, but they're all awesome pieces. i really want a XD 357 Tactical to mess around at the range with. :big grin: .357SIG + 5" barrel = win!

Honestly, i really don't notice too much difference in how they feel in my hand, besides the XD being a bit more top heavy. The XD trigger pull feels a bit shorter.

I have a XD-40 and would recommend it compared to the Glocks. The biggest difference that i could notice when shooting is that the XD's grip angle felt better in my hand. Im sure this varies shooter to shooter, but the XD just felt more comfy. :big grin:

and the .40 sub compact should be on the market in Jan 04. Cant wait :x:

You could always sell whatever you get to buy a XD40 Compact when it comes out. Don't beat it up too much and you ought to be able to get 70-85% of what you paid for it back easily.

    I guess I could do that. :sad2:

I went to Academy today and compared them both side by side. The G27 was $499 and the XD was $469. I'm torn between easy concealment or a gun I was very happy shooting with. Wish the compact XD was out already. :hs:

easy concealment AND much more proven than the XD. for only $30 more, i'd go with the glock, big time. if it were maybe a $75 difference, and i were you, i might give it some thought. but not with a gap in price so small. i'd spend $100 more if it was between a glock and an XD.

I think the P99 is Walther's attempt to make their "glock"... Id choose the original thing, the Glock. Most of the "special features" on the P99 are there just to make it different from the Glock, not necesarily better.

It makes you wonder, how come many well know manufacturers are now making their own "glock" versions? Like Springfield and Walther, or S&W or Steyr... It it because the GLOCK RULES SUPREME?? Yeah!
