went to the range today, im only 19, but they didnt even card me. cost was 6$ a gun, i rented 5 guns and 50 rounds for each for just under 100$. this is my first time shooting any kind of handgun BTW.

Beretta 92f 9mm - loved the way it sat in my hand, kick wasnt too bad, overall i liked it, might have to own one someday

Sig P229 .40  - i freaking love this gun! fits in my hand prefect, kick is minimal, and i got my best grouping in with this gun. :bigthumb:

Springfield XD-40 - i love this gun too, feels good, not alot of kick, and i shot very accurately with it, only think i dont like is that you have to pull the trigger back pretty far. :bigthumb:

Ruger (forgot model number) 9mm :ugh: - didnt like the way it felt right from the start. seemed to have too much kick for a 9mm, overall i did not like it. i really didnt like having to pull the trigger way back either.

Colt 1911 :wackit: - sweet mother of god this gun is mean. my shots were all over the place, gun felt great when i held it, and i got the feeling that if i precticed with it more i'd really like it.

so i have decided that my First handgun is going to be the Sig P229. how much should i be paying for one? also whats the difference between the p229 and the p239?

Rugers do have a long trigger pull, but that is a Ruger, there are ways of of controling the trigger so there isnt such a long pull. Rugers do have recoil, its not that its more, but its a heavier gun and you feel it more than most of the other guns you mentioned are Poly. I have mine and I wouldnt get rid of it, its a great gun..

P239 is smaller so you'll feel more kick

$650-700 for a new P229 with standard sights.

The P239 is a slightly smaller pistol, but due to its single stack magazine, it is also thinner, maker it the more ideal of the two to carry concealed.

    If you're getting "kick"(recoil) from a 9mm you have a problem :o

For some reason the Ruger 9mm does kick alot for a 9mm, mine does the same thing, its not like .44 kick, but compared to a Glock or other guns, it does kick more

The Barretta 9mm is the second easiest handgun i've shot - right behind a Browning .22 :o
