Shortcut command line parameters in XP?

I'm trying to run an old software in XP and I got it working, but I need to run it in windowed mode due to the resolution. After looking it up, apparently you can force the app to run in windowed mode by adding the following command line parameter to the "target" section of a shortcut: /window

Unfortunately, anywhere I place this command inside the target field results in an error telling me it's not a valid target.

    Any help?

Make sure the path and file name are in quotes with the command line switch outside the quotes.

    ex: "c:\path\program.exe" /window

With a space? Hmm.. that seems to be what I was messing up on. I was putting it immediately after the end quotation.
