So I am looking to buy a DSLR, first one for me; I have some money and have wanted to get into amateur photography for years...

I think the D80 is what I am looking for, with a lens. looking at $1400.

    http://www.amazon.com/Nikon-10-2MP-...=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=photo&qid=1227011605&sr=1-5

    and

    http://www.amazon.com/Nikon-18-200mm-3-5-5-6-ED-IF-Zoom-Nikkor/dp/B000BY52NU/ref=pd_sim_p_2

Opinions/ advice? help a newbie out.

I am over here in Korea for a year and don't really wanna capture everything I do on a cheap p and s when I can teach myself something I have wanted to do for years.

With $1400, you can get the D90 kit brand new and have a decent camera and lens to start with.

Viable replacement for the D80, and for the price you want. You can probably find a D80 kit for around a $1000 if you wanted though!

I got my D80 in March for $900 on eBay new with a 18-135 lens. $1400 should put you well into a D90.

    I'd take the D90 over D80.

specvceps i will buy your d90 if the place i ordered mine from tells me my bank isn't allowing blah blah blah one more time. I already had to call them, my bank, them again two more times. talk to customer service once to get it cancelled and billing about 4 times to get frustrated.

should have just took a slightly used one from the get go.

where are you located in alabama???

i just bought a d90 with 18-200VR for 1530. i'm sure you could choose a cheaper lens to come out around your budget (lens alone is 640 brand new).

With the korean won being so weak against the dollar you should be able to find real good bargains while you're there. When I was in Korea 2 weeks ago, I was able to find a D700 body for $1900. It's like $2600 on amazon the last time I checked. :o

i didn't want to try to haggle you with price as your original price is pretty cheap, but man i just couldn't turn down the brand new virgin with a free 8gb card and free shipping.:hs: it was only slightly more expensive than your asking price however i did send you a pm lol to try to negotiate. not to mention it comes with probably a crappy card but a card nonetheless.

if you would have advertised it for your price plus a card (or pm'd me back :o) i would have probably bought it then instead of dealing with ordering it online.

i wish you luck with the sale though and if i hear of anyone looking for one, i'll steer them your way.

the threadstarter should get yours though. or i will if these people try to tell me i don't have the sufficant funds again. :mamoru:. i just deposited it monday bitches, i know its there. lol

yea i have seen a lot of asian bodies (mostly japanese) for sale for a lot cheaper than american bodies. id be afraid i'd get the one dud out of the box and got no warranty on it.

i suppose you can get them warrentied (if thats even a word) over there though correct?

I read your pm, and didn't really bother responding because for that price if you can get a new one, i probably would have done the same :hsd:

I was in B'ham, but now are in South Korea.

I am sketched out about buying from e mart, and paying with won; though it will save me money. The salesmen fucking love being dicks to americans, and they speak fucking english. So it's a real pain in the ass, then all the instructinos are in fucking korean; the box and shit too
