My father-in-law has a 30-30, 30-06, and a .22 rifle that he owns but hasn't shot in probably over 40 years.

He only has full use of one arm (though it's a quite burly arm). I wanted to take him to the range this weekend to shoot his guns. Should he have any problems shooting them while seated? I haven't shot any rifles extensively, so I don't have enough experience myself to say.

Thinking just now, I guess he would need something to prop them on. Provided we don't have a bi-pod or anything of the sort, what's a good alternative?

Put the .22 on sandbags. Not sure what to tell you about the bigger stuff.

You would want a bipod for the bigger guns. It also depends on the range, if it's an outdoor range you might be laying on the ground anyway.

It's outdoors, with wooden table/counter running the length, and adjustable-height seats.

    Thanks for the suggestions!

  9. It looks like it mounts with a screw, rather than mounts to a sling stud. That sucks. Really, buy a decent Harris (or at least something that mounts to a sling stud) and you can use it on multiple guns.

EDIT: That dealextreme bipod doesn't swivel either. That's fine if you only shoot on flat ground, but anything else is going to be a pain in the ass. Get a bipod that can swivel.

I would listen to MG ^^ I only posted those because they're cheap and the stuff I've gotten from Dealextreme has always been decently built. I'm sure some of their stuff is pure crap, though - I always make sure to read the reviews on the products I buy - if it doesn't have any reviews, I don't buy it. :o

The Caldwell TackDriver sandbag is "H" shaped so you can lay the rifle in the groove - getting you some side-to-side support as well.
