ive only been to a shooting range once. we rented the guns and bought the ammo there. if i brought my own gun, and my own ammo, is shooting at the range free (besides paying for the targets)? or do i have to rent a stall

You would also have a range fee.

They got to pay to maintain the place you know.

thanks. also, i'm over 21 and can buy a hand gun in my state. can i accompany my younger brother to the range (he's 16) or does it have to be a parent?

Would depend on the range rules. Alot of them just specify that it must be an adult with them. Of course I'm in Texas, we get away with all kinds of shit here. ;)

At the range I frequent I have brought my buddies and their younger siblings without a problem. Your best bet would be to just call the range ahead of time and explain the situation.

The range I went to today said under 18 had to be accompanied by someone 21+. Must be older than 12 to shoot on the range, under 15 accompanied by a parent and must have someone watching them in their stall.

I've taken my nephew (12) to the range a couple of times. Of course I have my own bay (instead of a stall, it's just a whole bunch of stalls combined) at the range.

I've shot and rented handguns from my range and i'm not even 21 yet. They didn't watch over even though I wasn't 21. I just told them i've shot before. I'd call ahead and see what the range says, always better to ask first than end up going and getting dissapointed.
