    what I have to use:

    5d mk ii
    450d

    70-200 2.8 non-is
    50mm 1.8
    canon 24-70L
    11-16 2.8

which lens would you use on which body?

edit: it's at a fairly dark venue (osu schottenstein center), not sure what the lighting setup will be

    completely depends on the venue.

shot 2 concerts last week. one I shot almost entirely with my 14-24 and the other I shot entirely with my 80-200.

with a few 85mm shots on each.

    bring everything you've got.

I'd take the 5dmkII body and use all the lenses.

i can almost assure you with as big as JayZ is, there will not be a "photopit" at the front of the stage, rather a area from the sound board to shoot from. Major performers dislike when photog shoot them from below so they require that extra distance. Call the promoter and ask them where you will be shooting from. Most likely you will only need teh 11-16 and 70-200 + a tc.

how do you handle all the gear?
leave the extra lenses in a backpack and run around with it?
or do you just leave it backstage?

Have a good time. I saw him in concert two weekends ago. I did not see any photographers up front and the major sound booth was at the back of floor seating area.

yep thats about right. Usually have to use a 300-400 to get great shots of major performers.

Take the 5DmkII and all your lenses. Gotta be ready for any spot if you don't call ahead and find out where you'll be.

it's the schott... the lighting will be just fine. It's not like you're shooting in the Al Rosa villa....

awesome concert, even though i was only able to shoot for a few songs

i was literally up against the stage which was sweet. only needed to use the 24-70

i got a fair amount of good shots, here are just a few since i only have a few minutes
