Is it the kit lens good enough? Its 3.5-5.6. Gonna bring the SB600+ demb flip along. This is for a D90 by the way.

I'm doing it for free, just to get a feel for it. Turbodude and anyone shooting at the clubs, can I do without a bracket?

    Appreciate the help, thanks!

might not hurt to give bracketing a shot, just so you can get a feel for how to work your lighting, iso, Tv, Av, and everything else. both with, and without the flash.

you dont need a bracket. just play with it. def go with iso800-1000 1/4s and wide open with 18-105. and play with it until you get it right
