Anybody done it?
that will either be awesome or horrible, need pics and vids if you do
I've shot at a bowling pin, and that was awesome. It just soaked everything up. Not sure I would shoot at a bowling ball, though
Sounds like ricochet city.
Lead will bounce on occasion, I've been hit a few times with ricochets, but it's moving so slow you dont even notice it. It's no different than shooting at steel plates. Wear eye protection and you're GTG
If you ever shoot competitions with steel plates you'll know what I'm talking about. Most of the time the bullets disintegrate on the steel but every once and a while the bullet (which now has lost most of its weight and looks like a nickle) will bounce off no harder than a 5 year old underhand throwing.
Use some armor piercing incendiary. Post vids.
I've shot pins, plates, and other steel reactive.
I have also seen someone need stitches on their face, blood drawn through a sweatshirt, and misc other small cuts and bruises from pin ricochets alone.
Just because you have been fortunate enough to have been hit with the softer ones, doesn't mean that is all of them.
The make up of a bowling ball is also a lot different than wood filled pins.
I don't think its a good idea to shoot a bowling ball, especially with a lighter pistol round at any type of close range.
That said, when you do it, please video and post.
You'll shoot your eye out.
I think we will start at about 100yds with the AR's and see what happens.
If I were to shoot one, It'd definitely be at least 100yd shot.
The worst riccochet I've caught was from bowling pins. I was shooting them with a 1911 and had an entire slug come back and smack me pretty hard. I still have it in my stuff somewhere. I'll go dig it out later and take a picture of it.
As for the bowling ball. I want to say that the resin would either split upon impact or it would leave a slight crater on the surface.
put it out at 100 yds and have fun. I wouldn't shoot at it any closer than that.
drill a hole a fill it with tannerite for even more fun
I shoot bowling pins once in a while.
A bowling ball just seems like asking for trouble, though.
I'm a pretty safety conscious guy, and you could not pay me $$$ to shoot at something as hard and massive as a bowling ball. FUCK that.
Don't be a pussy, start at 10 yards so you can assess the damage quicker.
It's round though, so the ricochet will probably just fly off somewhere else.
you're doing it wrong
and I meant steel plates, not bowling balls
That's a probably that someone else can test out.
id do it. make sure you have cell phone service. or a buddy with a car handy.
I was shooting at a steel plate set at a 45deg angle away from me and took a ricochet to the stomach with my .40 a few years back. finished shooting my mag, walked back to the truck and had my wife dig the chunk of copper jacket out of my stomach. hurt like a bitch for the next few days
I just re-read the tread title and saw it was bowling balls not pins.
