I think AK works better for a lefty than a righty. You can access the charging handle with your support hand without going into weird position or wrapping your arm around the gun. And since AK ejects empty shells forward chance of it coming back to you is slim.

Heard good stuff about them, but I think they have a long waiting list.

edit: 3months is last I heard.

You can shoot AKs lefty with no problem, mine mostly throws shells forward or at worst it would be perpendicular in front of you. And if you want a true lefty AK you can get a lefty bolt carrier and receiver cover.

    edit, like so:

Although if you're shooting lefty I guess technically having the charging handle on the right side would be an advantage.

    :bowrofl:

Just a question, do you have an AK? Cause mine sure as hell doesn't eject forward all the time. After running all my mags through it over several hours, I'll have cases everywhere from 11 o'clock (gun barrel down range being 12), all the way to about 4:00

My experience with AK has been the same with xpinchx. I don't know what AK you've shot, but I've shot a Bulgarian AK47 and own a Tantal. :hsugh:

My 74s all eject from 1:00-3:00. Pretty sure my 47s eject the same too.

Mine is a smith built Romy G setup :dunno:

I should probably clean it and then see where it ejects :o

must be some magic shells to be able to eject from the right and fly toward the left

dude, you have NO idea how weird it is to see it happen.

I *think* what is happening is that as the shell tumbles the charging handle slams into it. I still don't know how that causes it to go to the left though.

I should probably clarify, by the shells flying "forward" I really mean they're shooting past parallel (1:00 to 2:00) and at worst it they will go to about 3:00. Mainly trying to say you're safe from getting brass (steel) in the face if you shoot lefty.

My AK throws shells about 3 o'clock and up about 10ft and to the right about 20ft. I'd say you be ok.

That guy running that AK knows how to handle it pretty well.

If I could only have one caliber I'd go with 5.45, more accurate, almost zip for recoil, cheaper ammo atm. Only downside would be if you plan to hunt with the rifle, 5.45 is to small for deer in some states. For target or varmints its excellent though.
