I'm not exactly sure what it is, but it's an outdoor yoga...party. there's a DJ spinning tunes and people doing yoga :ugh:

anyways, I imagine shooting this would be similar to shooting people exercising or dancing. does anyone have any tips for getting some cool shots at this type of event?

it's going to be outdoors, 4-6 pm, so the shadows will be long, but I should do fine with natural light the whole time. unless the whole thing is in the shade under a tent - the even guy isn't giving me any details lol

ugh...this is going to suck if it's under a tent though....really really bright background but dark foreground. everything going to underexposed in the back unless I use a flash, which might not bounce well depending on the tent.

i guess i'll just have to wait and see :noes:

now would be a great time to have a couple extra flash units w/ clamps and wireless triggers

For Yoga it might be kinda cool to hold the camera at different orientations (i.e. if the girl is doing a headstand hold the camera upside down.) Might only be good for 1 or 2 shots though.

well i just got back. it was in the bright, hot, beating sun. good for lighting, shitty for me and my pale skin.

LOTS of hotties and cool photo ops. think 100 people doing the same poses in lines....plus a DJ spinning hot beats :ugh2:

i'll get around to processing them tonight or tomorrow and post a few this weekend.

I only took around 160 shots, but I think I will have a few keepers :o

alright here are some of my fav. shots. I think I'm going to go back and reprocess a couple of them, but it was definitely a new and challenging shoot!!

the lighting was surprisingly challenging just because the sun was so friggin bright and the shadows would throw of the exposures a lot. it was difficult to get some shots without getting some blown out highlights.

but the great thing was when there are a hundred people doing the same poses, it can be really beautiful

4 (bleh...I don't think I like this one all that much because of the people in the background are way blown out)

5 & 6 are my favs too. yea, there were instructors walking around to make sure people were posing correctly and not hurting themselves....so they kind of ruined a lot of pictures
