Let me tell you like you are 6 years old.
I can only wear one pair of shoes at a time. I'm not switching shoes in the middle of a workout. I'm not wearing one chuck and one cross trainer even though someone thinking they are funny (and fail) will advise it.
So I have to wear one pair of shoes at the gym. I lift AND do cardio almost every workout.
Would you guys rather wear Checks (or any flat bottom shoe) that helps with pulling or squatting and be forced to do cardio in them or would you wear your cross trainer shoes that are suited for cardio but aren't as good for squatting and pulling..

I switch shoes mid workout. It's not that big of a deal.
Just wear a pair of Sambas. Sambas>chucks. Sambas>crosstrainers

If for some reason you can't change shoes mid workout... wear running shoes/cross trainers to the gym and squat and pull barefoot.

We have a lap track around the weights area. Right now - I'm running a lap in between each set. It's not what I typically do but I have been lately.
When I get back to splitting cardio and lifting - I'll contemplate the shoe switching like the BOSSES.
If that's the case then I would train in my crosstrainers.
I usually retire my regular shoes to gym shoes when they are dirty/worn out. Most of the time they are Puma/Addidas type casual shoes.
I use them for cardio and weights. Deads/rack pulls/squats I just do in socks.
wish I could just do socks or barefoot. my gym is fucking DISGUSTING. they don't EVER clean it. I'm sure there is ridiculous kinds of staph/ringworm/athletes foot everywhere.

I always have an extra pair of knee high socks I leave in my bag for deadlift day and just take off my shoes and wear those. Doesnt stop my shins from getting all fucked up but at least I'm not bleeding all over the bar.
But if you don't want to go barefoot I would reccomend an indoor soccer shoe like a Samba/Samoa. I have both and like the Samoa better if youre running.
