I have to go to a sorority formal this weekend. I'm wearing a suit.

Is it acceptable to wear driving shoes or should I do loafers?

You will have to explain to me what driving shoes are, but probably not. Don't do it halfway. Outsyle the other fuckers.

Driving shoes are usually flat, or low heeled slip on or short lace shoe. The sole extends up the back of the shoe.

I know that drivers are considered too informal to wear to a formal event such as a wedding or something, but i am essentially going to a cocktail party. I'll probably just do loafers...

Drivers are fine for a sorority formal, although I'm not sure if they'd look good with a suit.

I've only been to two sorority formals and I wore my leather driving mocs to both, but I also just wore khakis, button down, blazer and tie. If you're wearing a suit you need to go with something with laces, even loafers aren't formal enough imo.
